We had our biennial 2020 exhibition from the 28th February – 8th March at the Dunedin Community Gallery. With 62 quilts on display, show casing a variety of techniques in both traditional and modern style quilting.
We welcomed over 750 visitors to the Exhibition from all over the world, giving them the opportunity to vote for their favourite quilt on display, learn about new techniques that were on display and the opportunity to ask questions on quilting.
Lynda Somerville, from Quilters & Patchworkers of Otago Inc,
organised an exchange along with her friend, Brenda Howell from the South Wales
Ceredigion Quilters Guild, to showcase the international relationship and
beauty of the craft. Lynda sent over 23 quilts from the Dunedin area
groups, all with a New Zealand theme, in exchange for Welsh ones.
Ours arrived last year and were on display at Tremain, Cardigan and will be on display again, as part of their annual exhibition, at Cardigan Castle for the month of April. The New Zealand themed quilts have also been shown at various quilting groups abroad. The Welsh quilts will be taken by Lynda to show at as many Quilting groups as possible, before being distributed to those who partook in this exchange.
