The speaker for our next meeting is Petra Pilkington, Burn Orange. Petra is also the speaker at Country Day so come along hear and met Petra before Country Day on Saturday 13th April 2019.

We meet on the second Thursday of each month at in the Technology Block at Bayfield High School located on the corner of Shore Street and Musselburgh Rise, Dunedin from 7.pm – 9.30pm. Doors open at 7.15pm. The exception is the first meeting of the year in January, which is always held on the 3rd Thursday and during winter (June and July) we meet on a Saturday.

At the meetings we also have a speaker or an activity and our library is open, there’s show and tell, and a number of raffles for sale. The evening ends with a cuppa and a chat.

Visitors and new members are always welcome to come along and find out more at any of our meetings.

St Peters Group

The St Peters group is not confined to patchwork and quilting alone- we have knitters, teddy and toy makers, embroidery, cross stitch, bag makers as well- anything in the craft world. While we don’t teach classes, there everyone is only too willing to help or advise someone on how to get started on a project and sharing their knowledge.

The St Peters group meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the each month except during December and January in the St Peters Church Hall on the corner of Hillside Road and Baker Street, South Dunedin from 10am until 2pm.

Bring your lunch and whatever you are working on.

Tea and coffee provided. There are good facilities for heating up lunch in the winter.

Feel free to join this warm and friendly group. Every one is welcome. You do not have to be a member of Quilters and Patchworkers of Otago (Inc.) to join the St Peters group. You are welcome to join the group and do any hand craft. Cost $4.00. Ask for Cynthia.

Antique Dress Form: This workshop is a mixed media class that explores several image transfer techniques and the use of mixed media. Design, colour choices and stitching will make this a unique art piece to hang in any sewing room.

This workshop explores the use of a coloured baby wipe to create a fun and unique art piece. Inspired by the art ofFriedrich Hundertwasser, the designs are odd shaped houses and oversized flowers.

Country Day- Saturday 13 April 2019

Country Day for 2019 will be held on Saturday 13 April 2019 at the Mornington Presbyterian Church Hall from 10am to 4pm. Everyone is welcome to attend Country Day.

Our speaker is Petra Pilkington from Country Dawn Quilting, Whangarei. Petra’s website is www.burntorange.kiwi.nz

Petra will speak at the Quilters & Patchworkers monthly meeting on 11 April, she will take a class on Friday and Sunday and speak at Country Day on Saturday.

There will be show & tell,raffles and merchants from Oamaru, Arrowtown, Mosgiel and Dunedin.

Come and see what others in the region are doing and get lots of inspiration from other patchworkers and quilters and enjoy the shopping

24 to 26 May 2019: Hoffman Challenge & Aotearoa Quilters Pink & Art Deco Challenge

Quilters and Patchworkers of Otago are excited to host an exhibition featuring the 2017-2018 Hoffman Challenge quilts and the Aotearoa Quilters 12″ by 12″ Pink challenge and the Art Deco Challenge.

The Hoffman Challenge features 18 quilts and the Aotearoa Quilters pink challenge features 84 quilts and the Art Deco challenge features 20 quilts.

The exhibition is being held in The H D Skinner Annex, at the Otago Museum, 361 Great King Street Dunedin (the Old Dunedin North Post Office) from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 may 2019 from 10am to 5pm. $5 entry
