Quilt Till You Wilt is a good opportunity to work from 9am to 9pm without interruptions on your project/projects or get help, suggestions from others or just relax & chat while you sew.
Quilt Till you Wilt starts at 9am and goes through until 9pm. Held at Bayfield High School, it costs $10 for the day.
Bring your lunch and something to share for morning and afternoon tea. Tea and coffee are supplied. You can bring their own dinner, or go out for dinner- its your choice.
Quilters & Patchworkers of Otago make quilts for give away to individuals and community groups that need the extra comfort a quilt can give. We give away approximately 60-80 quilts a year. While most of these quilts are given to organisations which give them to needy families in their care some are also given to charities for fundraising raffles.
We receive lovely letters back from the recipients many of whom receive a quilt often at a time when they are feeling at their most vulnerable.
Members make the quilts using donated fabric and giving of their own time.
Fabric and batting is available if you would like to work on Community Quilts.
Our next Community Quilt Day is Saturday 22 September. Dianne will have varying size quilt tops to quilt and batting and backings have also been cut so are ready to be be pinned and quilted. There is lots of fabric available in the Community Quilt stash so try out that pattern you have always wanted to make. There are also a number of panels which can have quilt blocks added around the edges or cup up and individual blocks sashed.
There will be no charge for the day when you work on Community Quilts, then you can spend the evening working on your own project.
Come along and make or finish quilts which will be donated to the Community.
A very successful techniques class has been held.
Here are the happy participants at the end of the day.
