Community Quilt Day Saturday 19 November 2019

at Bayfield High School 9.30am to 4.30pm No charge

Join Dianne and Daphne for the day. Daphne has cut out block for 2 quilts tops (see the photos) so bring your sewing machine and start sewing- the hard work has been done: the colours have been chosen and the cutting has been done. You just need to set up your machine and start sewing.

Morning tea will be provided.   Bring your lunch.

Quilters & Patchworkers of Otago make quilts for give away to individuals and community groups that need the extra comfort a quilt can give. We give away approximately 60-80 quilts a year. While most of these quilts are given to organisations which give them to needy families in their care some are also given to charities for fundraising raffles.

We receive lovely letters back from the recipients many of whom receive a quilt often at a time when they are feeling at their most vulnerable.
Members make the quilts using donated fabric and giving of their own time.

Fabric and batting is available if you would like to work on Community Quilts.

Dianne has a variety of quilt tops to quilt  and batting and backings have also been cut so are ready to be be pinned and quilted.   There is lots of fabric available in the Community Quilt stash so try out that pattern you have always wanted to make.   There are also a number of panels which can have quilt blocks added around the edges or cup up and individual blocks sashed.

Come along and make or finish quilts which will be donated to the Community.
